Job Description

The Intern, Communications is a temporary full-time position (May – Oct) reporting to the manager of communications. This position assists with promoting the sport via traditional and social media outlets.   Moderate travel to domestic events is required.  Additional hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays.  This position is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

·         Work with youth and junior national teams, writing bios and releases and covering matches.

·         Travel to and assist in covering adult and junior national championships.

·         Travel to and cover beach and indoor high performance championships.

·         Organize and catalog digital photo files.

·         Assist with social media postings, (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, Google play, etc.).

·         Cover volleyball matches and also find the stories within the match.

·         Maintain consistent and positive communication with internal clients. 

·         Assist media and communications staff with NORCECA Men’s Championship on Sept. 24-Oct. 1.

·         Other duties and projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

·         Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening.

·         Excellent written, organizational and verbal communications skills with attention to detail.

·         Must be able to write for publication and proficient with Microsoft Office software using AP style.

·         Experience with a variety of social media platforms.

·         Comfortable working independently and in group settings with a positive can-do demeanor.

·         Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, meet critical deadlines and perform well under pressure.

·         Experience working with video and photo shooting and editing a plus.

·         Experience using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop a plus.

·         Experience with a college or team sports information department is a big plus.

 

Starting Salary:

$ 9.30 per hour

Job Description

The Staff Attorney reports to the CEO and will provide legal counsel and support across all business and USA Volleyball (USAV) departments including, without limitation, legal issues, human resource, real estate, IT, compliance, SafeSport and consulting matters. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays.  This position is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Serve as an active member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Structure and oversee the organizations internal legal and regulatory functions.
  • Provide legal support on strategic matters and initiatives.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts related to the USAV’s commercial activities, including sponsorships (and associated sponsor activations), merchandise licensing, broadcasting, digital media (including strategic partnerships, content creation, etc.).
  • Work with staff members to identify and resolve business issues related to the development of commercial and other intellectual property-related relationships and associated contracts.
  • Work with staff members to resolve issues and disputes with sponsors, licensees, and other third parties with which USAV contracts.
  • Provide legal and strategic guidance on governance matters including but not limited to Board Authority matters, revision of USAV Bylaws, and interpretation of the Ted Stevens Olympic Amateur Sports Act.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the Amateur sport industry and ensure legal compliance in all areas of USAV operations and office locations (CO, CA, OK).
  • Manage litigation including collaboration with outside legal counsel as appropriate, responding to information requests and handling depositions.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Juris Doctorate Degree.
  • License to practice law in the State of Colorado. Experience practicing law in California is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years Generalist experience practicing law, some substantial portion of which must involve direct handling of contract negotiation and drafting.
  • Prior experience in several of the following areas preferred: human resources, real estate, healthcare, data protection.
  • Prior experience representing amateur or professional sports organizations or sponsors of sports events is a plus.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening.

Minimum Starting Salary:

Commensurate with experience
