USAV is a 501(c)(3) organization with an operating budget in excess of $25M and approximately 75 staff and coaches in four offices (National Office in Colorado Springs, CO; Beach Operations in Torrance, CA; National Team Operations (Indoor) in Anaheim, CA; and Sitting Program in Edmond, OK). 

 

Job Description

The Coordinator, Officials Development, will assist with all aspects of the Officials Development Program; but with an emphasis on administrative support.  The position is based in Colorado Springs with a possibility of some travel involved.  The Coordinator will report to the Senior Director but support programs under the direction of the various Officials Commissions.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·       Support all officials’ training and educational programs including indoor, beach, sitting and Special Olympics

·       Maintain lists of national clinic attendees and candidates for rating sites and update records in Webpoint for national certification requirements

·       Manage officials’ registrations for the three national Championships and High Performance Championships including sending contracts and coordinating housing

·       Assist with the writing, distribution and payment of contracts for raters, clinicians and trainers

·       Assist with researching travel costs and submitting Travel Authorizations, as needed

·       Work with event staff to coordinate OCRP (housing for officials at national events)

·       Work with other staff, consultants, and officials commission members to manage VIK for officials at national events; and for raters, trainers and commission members

·       Assist with packing and shipping supplies to clinics, camps and other events as needed

·       Assist the Head Raters and Head Trainer with logistics, materials and record keeping at rating and training sites

·       Coordinate with communications staff all printed and electronic materials concerning Officials Development

·       Attend and provide assistance during core meetings of USA Volleyball constituents

Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in sport management, business, communications or related work experience

·       Volleyball and/or officiating experience is not necessary but would be a plus

·       Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Suite, Dartfish and social media programs

·       Experience with videography, video editing, and web streaming is a plus

·       Possess excellent written, verbal and organizational skills with an attention to detail

·       Must be able to comfortably lift 30 pounds

·       Must successfully pass a USA Volleyball pre-employment background screening

Starting Salary

$36,000, commensurate with experience (plus benefits)

Position Overview

The Indoor HP Winter/Spring Internship at USA Volleyball is a non-paid position available to college students - primarily those pursuing a Sports Administration degree.  Students must either be receiving college credits for their participation in this internship, or the internship must serve to satisfy a requirement for their degree. 

The duties of this position will center on the planning, logistics and implementation of key 2015 High Performance programs, including High Performance National Coaches’ Clinic, 2015 USA HP athlete tryouts and USA Women’s National Team Tryout.  The intern will gain a strong understanding of the preparation necessary for a successful, multi-event sport season. The position will report directly to the Director, USAV High Performance Indoor Programs.  The position is located in the Colorado Springs office and will run approximately from January through the middle of May of 2015 (exact months and weeks are negotiable).   

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Complete one major planning project addressing future growth and directions in High Performance and present project results at end of internship.

  • Website improvements for HP Coaches’ Clinic or High Performance Championships section of USA Volleyball High Performance website.

  • Assist with preparation and logistics for Boys’ and Girls’ HP tryouts.

  • Assist with preparation, logistics and implementation for annual HP Coaches’ Clinic.

  • Serve as prime liaison and onsite coordinator for teams participating at the HP Coaches’ Clinic.

  • Assist with preparation, logistics and implementation for annual USA Women’s National Team Tryout.

  • Assist with onsite coordination of USA Women’s National Team Tryout.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • Working toward four-year college degree in Sports Administration or related field.

  • Excellent work ethic.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.

  • Good references from any previous internships or work experience. 

  • Experience in the sport of volleyball preferred. 

  • Must pass a USAV background screening. 

    Pay

    Nonpaid, Internship Position.

    January, 2015 to May, 2015 – final dates to be agreed upon.  Twenty (or more) hours per week.

Job Description

The USA Volleyball Women’s National Team is looking for volunteer coaches for both the Summer and Winter Training Blocks. Volunteer coaches have the opportunity to work closely with the top female athletes in the world, as well as with the Women’s National Team staff, including Head Coach Karch Kiraly. Part of the USA Women’s National Team mission is to push the boundaries of the sport, so volunteer coaches often have the opportunity to assist with new learning and teaching methods, new studies to gain insight into the game, and other tasks and projects that will help our USA players be the best in the world.  As such, a familiarity with and willingness to learn technology and its uses are essential for a volunteer coach.

The Winter Training Block began Monday, January 27 and runs through Friday, March 21. Volunteers are mostly requested for the final four weeks of the block.

The Summer Training Block begins the first week of May and runs through mid-September. For both the Winter and Summer Training Block, practice sessions are 8:30-11:30am, with office hours for the staff (video analysis, scouting, etc) running until about 6:00pm. Depending on the level of involvement and responsibilities, volunteers may be needed for some or all of this time.  Prospective volunteers should plan for at least a two week commitment, in order to maximize their learning opportunities.

Volunteers must provide their own housing and transportation to and from the American Sports Center in Anaheim, California where the National Team trains. However, there are also opportunities to be involved with video scouting and study from a distance, for coaches who are not able to spend significant time in Anaheim.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with all aspects of practice sessions

  • Helping to set up practice courts and facilitate practice sessions

  • Assisting with practice video, replay technologies, etc.

  • Compiling scouting information, helping organize scouting reports

  • Video study: compiling video montages for USA players

  • Video study: charting and studying international matches

  • Statistical analysis

  • Assisting with USA Red-Blue exhibition matches, including match setup, fan experience, etc.

Qualifications

  • Volleyball coaching and/or playing experience (duties assigned in proportion to experience)

  • Experience with or willingness to learn various technology-related applications including Excel, DataVolley, Dartfish, and Kinovea.

  • Must become a USA Volleyball member and successfully pass a USA Volleyball background screening

  • USA Volleyball IMPACT certified or completion of IMPACT certification by end of two week commitment.

  • Most importantly, a great attitude, an open mind, and willingness to learn.
