Event/Venue Operations: Event Operations/Management
Events Coordinator - USA Taekwondo (Colorado Springs, CO)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Events Coordinator position will be the primary contact for all State Championships hosted by USA Taekwondo State Associations. The position will also assume a secondary role in all National/International Events and Team Trials hosted by USA Taekwondo.

REPORTS TO: Events Director

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as main point of contact to State Associations.
  • Verify eligibility and compliance of State Association and State Championships.
  • Organize the logistics for events to include transportation and equipment needs.
  • Perform Market Research and Demographic Analysis on all events and properly maintain a worksheet for historical purposes.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to the following constituents: athletes, coaches, volunteers, and the Taekwondo community in general by answering all questions in a timely manner.  A high standard of communication is essential.
  • Organize and oversee the processing of applications while properly notifying each participant of their acceptance into the event.
  • Organize and oversee onsite event registration at all events hosted by USA Taekwondo.
  • Continually participate in discussions regarding how to improve various areas of the Events Department, such as the online database and event registration system. Market research, etc.
  • Provide financial forms with the approval of the Director of Events to the Finance Department in a timely fashion prior to and/or after the event.
  • Oversee the recruitment of volunteers and staff to properly run each event in a professional manner
  • Maintain the upkeep of all equipment and continually provide recommendations on improvements or equipment needs.
  • Supervise Events Intern’s day-to-day duties.
  • Some travel will be required.

While this is a basic outline of the duties for the Championship Events Coordinator, there are many other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Events for event related purposes.

Duties and responsibilities may be revised at the discretion of the Events Director and at the direction of the Executive Director.

Athlete Management/Coaching: Team Administration/Operations
High Performance Manager - USA Taekwondo (Colorado Springs, CO)

POSITION SUMMARY: The High Performance Manager is responsible for the day to day administration of the High Performance Department of USA Taekwondo.

Reports to: High Performance Director

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as primary liaison for all coaching education programs, including scheduling and administration of coach training and seminars. Manage the registration and processing of the Associate Coach Quiz and handle logistics for level 1 and level 2 coach seminars.
  • Manage annual Athlete Development Training Camps at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, and other locations. Perform all logistical duties and assist with marketing and and recruitment, acting as primary contact for all camps, disseminating camp information as needed.
  • Manage event logistics for international elite teams, including the senior, junior and cadet national teams, the Paralympic national team and the Poomsae national team.
  • Handle air/ground transportation, meals, lodging, medical supplies, registration and budget for international competitions.
  • Expand coach/athlete education programs, including the USA Taekwondo webinar series. Manage monthly webinars, including recruitment, marketing and execution
  • Develop the Paralympic Taekwondo Program, including coach and athlete recruitment; program development; training and competitions.
  • Day to day management of the High Performance intern, including hiring, performance management and evaluations.
  • Assist the High Performance Director in managing the High Performance budget.
  • Assist the Events Department in the execution of USA Taekwondo national events.
  • Occasional international and domestic travel required.

Duties and responsibilities may be revised at the discretion of the High Performance Director and at the direction of the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of experience working for a National Governing Body or other high performance sporting organization
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of U.S. Olympic Committee and NGB policies and procedures a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of Sport Taekwondo
  • Team Leader experience with international competitive sport teams

Membership Manager - USA Taekwondo (Colorado Springs, CO)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Membership Manager role is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to grow into an essential component of the overall USA Taekwondo operation. This position has many facets and will always have the opportunity for creativity and development.

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications

This position is primarily responsible for USA Taekwondo member engagement activities and developmental programs created and managed to produce a greater level of participation in USA Taekwondo. This is a multi-faceted position that requires significant creativity coupled with the ability to manage multiple areas within the USA Taekwondo operation. This position serves as a primary Headquarters liaison with members, with regular communication required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:

  • Works with the Director of Marketing & Communications to ensure world class services and programs are delivered to constituent members at all times.
  • Creates programs to target potential members and inspire current member retention.
  • Creates and develops assets to enhance membership value proposition.
  • Creates and administers programs to stimulate and emphasize club development.
  • Creates and provides appropriate tools for member clubs and sport disciplines to promote growth in USA Taekwondo membership and to benefit the local development of the sport.
  • Coordinates with all USA Taekwondo sport disciplines to support their efforts and initiatives.
  • Responsible, in coordination with appropriate staff, for the creation, development and administration of programs for the promotion and development of Taekwondo in the United States.
  • Oversees the development, coordination and administration for other developmental programs within our disciplines
  • Responsible for the marketing and promotion of all developmental programs to our member clubs, sport divisions and other organizations.
  • Responsible for updates to the presentation (graphic design) of USA Taekwondo member benefits, membership forms and general membership presentation, both electronically and with paper forms, in coordination with the Director of Marketing & Communications.
  • Emphasis on simplicity, clarity and timeliness.

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT/SOCIAL MEDIA OUTREACH

  • Responsible for USA Taekwondo social media presence and activities (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
  • Creates and administers biweekly individual member e-newsletter in e-mail marketing program.
  • Creates and administers biweekly club member e-newsletter.
  • Creates and administers member and club engagement activities through social media such as video contests, blogs, Facebook posts, YouTube posts, etc.
  • Development of club education programs with emphasis on ease of membership registration, sanctioning and all other aspects of the relationship between USA Taekwondo and our current and potential clubs.
  • Communicates regularly with state and regional USA Taekwondo organizations regarding program and other opportunities that might be of benefit for a club or potential club.
  • Provides lead for graphic design, creative efforts and overall feel for social media engagement.
  • Works in coordination with the Director of Marketing and Communications in discovering sponsor and partner opportunities for all developmental programs.

MEMBER SERVICES & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with the USA Taekwondo Director of Marketing and Communications for all overlapping responsibilities and initiatives.
  • Maintains the company database of individual members and clubs, ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Oversees production and fulfilment of member benefits – membership cards, insurance documents etc in a timely manner.
  • Travels to appropriate meetings and events representing USA Taekwondo.
  • Responsible for the budget and all financial controls for program development and member engagement activities.
  • Contact for International Federation Licenses as well as process necessary documents and coordinate effort with other USA Taekwondo staff to help with the process of Global Athlete Licenses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Education, Certification and Training Requirements

  • College degree strongly preferred. Advanced education a benefit.

Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrated working experience in sports related field – NGB experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have significant experience and demonstrated expertise in Word, Excel, Power Point and other advanced computer programs such as Adobe programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Social media management, including Facebook pages, Instagram and Twitter.
  • E-mail marketing programs including Constant Contact and the Salesforce marketing cloud knowledge preferred.
  • Creativity, energy and enthusiasm – demonstrated ability to be a team player.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with a variety of organizations and individuals.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Strong administrative skills with the ability to create and present progress reports.
  • Basic video editing skills considered a plus. 
  • Innovative self-starter with excellent multi-tasking abilities.
