Position Overview

Do you have an interest in coaching or teaching or helping the game develop through education? The coaching department is looking for someone to help with many different and exciting education initiatives.   

The Coaching Education Associate will be responsible for supporting the technical objectives and administrative aspects of the U.S. Soccer’s Coach Development Program.  The position is administrative in nature but does require a strong understanding of soccer and a familiarity with coaching.

This position is also responsible for exhibiting a high-degree of professionalism, maintaining a customer service mentality and communicating consistently and transparently with membership. 

Primary Duties

  • Assist in planning and organizing national coaching schools
  • Supervise the departments customer service program, which includes monitoring departments general email account
  • Support with drafting department press releases and social media accounts
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline
  • Outstanding organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Dedication to the highest level of standards and excellence
  • Able to work independently
  • A proficient knowledge of Spanish-language skills is a plus

 Primary Duties

As a critical member within the Finance department, the Corporate Accountant serves the organization's staff, department heads, Senior Executives and Federation members through planning and reporting.  A crucial process is driving the compilation and creation of the annual budget which assists our longer-term planning and strategic decision making.  This role also provides reports across a number of areas including National Team games, International games, Membership data, Sponsor activity, and Investments while assisting in projects and analysis as necessary. 

  • Budgeting, Planning and Strategic Analysis 
    • Manages the compilation and creation of the annual budget including department detail, department summaries, and top-line corporate summaries
    • Prepares monthly variance reports for review and analysis with department managers

    • Analyzes financial trends and corporate activity for strategic decision making and forecasting

  • Reporting

    • Game/Events
      • Manages National Team game closeouts, including ticket revenue analysis, venue financials and overall financial performance
      • All financial reports of the International Game closeout process including ticket report reconciliation
    • Membership support
      • Tracks and reports on membership registration revenue activity

      • Ensures proper reporting for annual National Council voting rights

    • Sponsor/Marketing Activity

      • Manages the reporting, analysis and quarterly billing of revenue generated from our sponsorship partner

    • Investment reporting
      • Manages monthly investment account analysis and reporting
      • Involved in strategic investment meetings and analysis
  • Special projects, analysis and support as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, CPA required
  • 5-8 years of progressive Finance experience
  • Prior audit experience a plus
  • Budgeting and Planning experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and a Financial ERP system (Sage MIP preferred, Oracle, Hyperion Reporting)
  • Strong verbal, written and in-person communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

The Opportunity:

The Development Academy mission is to impact everyday club environments. Expansion into Zone 1 boys’ soccer and the addition of a girls’ program creates opportunities for the addition of dedicated Development Academy staff to support member clubs.  Department Overview

The Sporting Development Associate will work within the Referee Department, reporting to the Referee Program Coordinator and is based at U.S. Soccer’s headquarters in Chicago, IL. The core function of the position is to facilitate the day-to-day duties of working with the Game Officials, Sales Force and other platforms used within the department. This opportunity is aimed at applicants that are college graduates seeking professional careers in the sport of soccer. This is a six-month internship with an hourly wage.

Primary Duties:

  • Review current teams in Game Officials from various leagues to determine if they are still affiliated.
  • Review playing locations and teams in Game Officials for duplicate identities.
  • Responsible for answering email sent to the general department email account
  • Check registration packets of National level officials, assessors, and instructors and make sure they have met all requirements before sending.
  • Obtain correct addresses for returned registration packets.
  • Merge Salesforce duplicate accounts.
  • Complete and send out Certificate of Insurance requests.
  • Assist in planning of various Referee Programs Events.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Education/Skills/Knowledge:

Position Overview

U.S.Soccer’s Technical Video Department oversees the collection, development, creation and distribution of technical video designed to fulfill the needs of coaches and scouts across the organization’s various teams. The Technical Videographer works closely with thecoaching staff to develop a library of technical video usedbyplayers and scouts. The ideal candidate has exceptional knowledge of technical video systemsand their application to a coaching staff.

Primary Duties:

  • Fulfill all required technical video requests, including shooting training sessions and matches; acquiring and delivering matches being played around the world; editing video to the exact specifications mandated by the coaching staff; maintain an organized and efficient video database
  • Determine best practices for how technical video gets captured and disseminated for key members of coaching, scouting and player networks
  • Use the analytics/editing platforms as designated by U.S. Soccer
  • Collaborate with others in the Technical Video Department to ensure fluidity and accessibility of all technical video captured by U.S. Soccer
  • Train and educate coaching staff on new technical video opportunities and technologies by providing information, tutorials, and one-on-one sessions where needed
  • Traveling or working with coaching staffs as dictated by the technical video needs.
  • Collaborate with members of the Content and Communications teams at U.S. Soccer to ensure technical video is continually archived and maintained in the Federation’s primary system
  • Assist in all other facets of video development as necessary
  • Develop professional presentations for coaching staff to present in meetings with players
  • Act as primary IT/technology troubleshooter for coaching staff while traveling

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of experience with video in a professional sports environment
  • Fundamental understanding of online video, video production operations with a strong working knowledge of video technologies including content ingestion, encoding, transcoding, decoding, cloud services, video archiving, video player features and functionality
  • Able to operate a wide array of cameras and produce video to the necessary specifications in any environment
  • Expert in Adobe Premiere and other non-linear video editing platforms
  • Possesses meticulous attention to project management detail and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of soccer at a high level is required
  • Knowledge and ability to adapt to the environment surrounding a high-level professional sports team
  • Current U.S. Soccer Federation Coaching License preferred
  • Quick learner who can function well in the fast-paced environment mandated by professional sports
