Marketing, Manager - U.S. Figure Skating (Colorado Springs, CO)

The Manager, Marketing is responsible for the completion of the tasks listed herein. In addition, all tasks that are assigned by the Chief Marketing Officer will be the responsibility of the Manager, Marketing. Emphasis will be placed on ability to work in a team environment, creativity, accuracy and timeliness.  Applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in sport management, business, marketing or equivalent, master’s degree in sport management or business preferred. Minimum of four years of marketing experience required, preferably in the sports industry. Relevant agency and/or NGB or USOC experience is a plus. The applicant must have highly developed organization and planning skills; the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines; extensive written and verbal communication skills; the ability to establish rapport with local event organizing committees and be willing to travel and work some evening and weekend hours as needed for events. All candidates must have strong computer skills, preferably PC platforms, including word, excel, PowerPoint. Self-starters and ambitious problem solvers are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Assisting the Chief Marketing Officer, and related marketing staff, with the management of U.S. Figure Skating’s overall public image, working specifically to increase visibility of figure skating among current and potential fans and enhancing the public perception and understanding of the sport.

  2. Working with U.S. Figure Skating and Local Organizing Committee (LOC) staff to develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to drive ticket sales and local awareness for U.S. Championships, Skate America and other major events hosted by U.S. Figure Skating.

  3. Collaborating with U.S. Figure Skating’s events department to plan and execute in-arena marketing and entertainment activities for Skate America, U.S. Championships and other major events.

  4. Providing day-to-day brand management services for U.S. Figure Skating special marketing and/or brand initiatives and campaigns; working with internal team members regarding content (web, social, print, video, media & PR, etc.) development, KPI tracking, overall strategy and other duties as assigned.

  5. Partnering with the Director, Communications on the oversight of U.S. Figure Skating’s community partnership program; including the creation of new initiatives and working with various staff members, athletes and agents to coordinate Team USA participation in local and national programs.

  6. Overseeing email marketing strategy, planning, design and scheduling for special initiatives and U.S. Figure Skating’s marketing, events, communications and development departments.

  7. Working with the events department to manage and update the websites for key national events, including Skate America, U.S. Championships and any U.S. Figure Skating hosted special events.

  8. Leading the organization’s day-to-day merchandising strategy; including the management of any special initiative-based programs, seasonal discounts, overseeing product development and managing relationships with third party online store and affiliate program providers, and reviewing and approving all logo usage requests by member organizations and outside vendors.

  1. Assisting in the development and implementation of special marketing and promotional campaigns associated with organization anniversaries (i.e. 100 years) and special events (i.e. Olympics).

  2. Serving as a day-to-day liaison for U.S. Figure Skating agencies related to special marketing and/or brand initiatives and campaigns.

  1. Monitoring assigned pages of and special marketing campaign related websites and providing regular site updates to communications team.

  1. Working with various staff members to develop and implement digital marketing campaigns to drive subscriptions for, and awareness of, icenetwork and other owned media assets (i.e. SKATING magazine).

  2. Using the overall U.S. Figure Skating marketing plan, actively developing, presenting and helping to implement event marketing strategies to be followed by qualifying competition LOCs.

  1. Providing management and leadership for coordinator, marketing, including oversight of the organization’s national sponsor fulfillment program.

  2. Participating in department meetings, contributing to the overall strategy development; specifically, as related to SKATING magazine,,, media and public relations, etc.

  1. Respond to volunteer and staff in areas concerning marketing, promotion and brand.

  2. Special projects as defined by the Executive Director and/or Chief Marketing Officer.

The successful candidate will collaborate with marketing department team members, cross-functional staff, and external partners to ensure delivery of USBC-branded materials for marketing campaigns, events, and sales efforts.  


The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Management of the creative and digital media request processes, utilizing project management software to coordinate and schedule projects for the marketing team
  • Compose project schedules and prioritize work flow for communications, marketing, public relations and tournaments operations
  • Coordinate production and fulfillment of onsite event signage for the Open Championships, Women’s Championships, USBC Convention and multiple short-duration tournaments  
  • Request quotes and manage the print and production vendor relationships
  • Vendor relationship management, order placement and delivery coordination for promotional items and merchandise
  • Assist with coordination, review and approval of USBC's trademark practice
  • Maintain the marketing inbox, funneling emails to the appropriate internal stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or relevant business experience
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of administration, customer service, or project management experience
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Word). MS SharePoint (highly-preferred)
  • Strong team orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and follow-through


  • Ability to work extended periods of time on computer required
  • Ability to lift and unpack (up to 20 lbs.) boxes

Corporate Partnerships Department Overview

U.S. Soccer’s Corporate Partnerships Department is responsible for managing relationships with the organization’s commercial partners.  The Corporate Partnerships Operations Coordinator will work closely with the Corporate Partnerships, Events and Fan Services Departments to plan, execute and manage partner-related operational responsibilities around National Team games and events.

Primary Duties

The Corporate Partnerships Coordinator assists in managing all stages of the relationship between U.S. Soccer and current and potential commercial partners, including sponsors, technical partners and suppliers. This individual will assist in securing and renewing partners, develop and present onboarding materials and manage the day-to-day relationship. The coordinator, who must have an understanding of the industry and key categories, works closely with all other departments to plan, execute and measure programs to help partners maximize their relationship with U.S. Soccer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of expertise
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a similar position
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent events through multi-tasking and managing priorities efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities
