Duties of the Communications intern include (but not limited to):

  • Development and implementation of the communications strategic plan 
  • Composition of daily articles for Association's website   
  • Management of one or more of the NSCAA social media accounts    
  • Assist in brainstorming concepts for upcoming projects and campaigns  
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal competencies for this position include:

  • Knowledge of AP Style writing
  • Proven written communications background
  • Proper use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) for business purposes
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Duties of the partnership intern include (but not limited to):

  • Assist with partner and advertiser contract activation
  • Responsible for researching innovative ways partners can get more involved in the Association through education and event initiatives 
  • Assist with print and email marketing campaigns with advertisers, exhibitors and partners
  • Assist with the Exhibit Hall planning including layout design and all social functions held within the hall
  • Manage the exhibitor badge registration and distribution process for the 2018 Convention
  • Serve as a key member of the Exhibitor Registration Staff on-site at Convention
  • Assist with sponsorship activation at the 2018 Convention
  • Attend monthly staff meetings
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Manager of Partnerships and/or Marketing Department

The Opportunity:

The Development Academy mission is to impact everyday club environments. Expansion into Zone 1 boys’ soccer and the addition of a girls’ program creates opportunities for the addition of dedicated Development Academy staff to support member clubs. The Development Academy staffing structure currently provides full-time opportunities within this department based on employee performance and fit. This opportunity is aimed at applicants that are college graduates seeking professional careers in the sport of soccer, specifically youth player development. 

Primary Duties of the Position:

  • Build relationships with Academy clubs and provide outstanding customer service through regular communication, training and support
  • Work collaboratively with Academy Coordinator team to filter messages and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Establish existing and new avenues to support and positively impact player, coach and referee development
  • Expert knowledge of the Academy philosophy with ability to interpret rules, regulations and policies
  • Support Technical Staff with implementation of Academy program initiatives
  • Serve as liaison to clubs, referees, and Technical Staff to assist Academy Coordinator team with events and registration
  • Manage game day Academy operations (may include evening/weekend availability)

Education/Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of the sport and the overall soccer landscape in the U.S.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service focus to solve complex and urgent situations
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow
  • Proficient with technology programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Keynote, etc.)
  • Experience in developing/supporting technology platforms or database management is a plus
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required

The Development Academy staff is expanding to continue to provide support to clubs during an exciting period of growth in club membership. Exceptional candidates in this role may be considered for full-time positions with the Development Academy upon completion of the internship period.

Primary Duties of the Position:

  • Assist the Development Academy Program with day-to-day program operations
  • Conduct research and contribute to reporting and maintenance of player tracking
  • Create content and assist with Academy internal and external communication, including social media
  • Assist with Development Academy Scholarship Program and manage regular communication with scholarship players, coaches, and parents
  • Work on event operations staff for regional and national Academy events. Responsibilities include: on-site coordination of meals, set-up and breakdown of facility, preparation of game/referee materials, and on-field operations
  • Fulfill Federation-wide internship roles and assist leadership with special projects as assigned

Education/Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and take a customer service approach and demeanor to fulfill program expectations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of the U.S. Soccer Federation and the soccer landscape
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and database management technology; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred (English and Spanish)
