Duties of the marketing intern include (but not limited to):

  • Assist with product marketing plan development and implementation 
  • Assist with promotional timelines and implementation 
  • Track performance of digital communications
  • Assist with email marketing communications and campaign
  • Perform market research projects
  • Assist with webpage development and maintenance
  • Attend weekly marketing meetings 
  • Attend monthly staff meetings
  • Assist with external advertising opportunities
  • Assist with the coordination of the NSCAA 30 Under 30 Program
  • Other tasks as assigned by individuals in the Marketing Department

Referee Department Intern - United States Soccer Federation (Chicago, IL)

Overview

The Referee Department Intern will report to the Referee Program Coordinator and is based at U.S. Soccer’s headquarters in Chicago, Ill.  The core function of the position is to facilitate the day-to-day duties of working with the Game Officials and Sales Force platforms. The intern will answer requests from the general department email account. This is an unpaid internship. However, college students may use this internship for course credit.

Primary Duties

  • Review current teams in Game Officials from various leagues to determine if they are still affiliated.
  • Review playing locations and teams in Game Officials for duplicate identities.
  • Responsible for answering email sent to the general department email account: referee@ussoccer.org
  • Check registration packets of National level officials, assessors, and instructors and make sure they have met all requirements before sending.
  • Obtain correct addresses for returned registration packets.
  • Merge Salesforce duplicate accounts.
  • Complete and send out Certificate of Insurance requests.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Must have a customer service approach
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of the U.S. Soccer Federation and the soccer landscape
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and database management technology

Communications Department Overview

The Communications Department’s main responsibilities are to create and manage content for all aspects of our business, be the point of contact for all media relationships and service other departments as well as partners by generating publicity and effectively communicating with their respective audiences.  The Communications Department is a team-oriented environment that consistently works under deadlines.

Primary Duties

The Communications Intern supports the Communications Department in executing the organization’s initiatives and administering day-to-day responsibilities. The Communications Intern will be required to effectively communicate and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. The position requires the ability to write, edit, organize content, meet deadlines, proactively contribute across multiple areas of the business and be flexible on a day-to-day basis. A high level of professionalism, commitment to hard work, knowledge of soccer, strong creativity and writing skills are all imperative in this job.

This internship is 40 hours per week. Duration: 6 months.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Researching, writing and editing press releases, features, match reports, match notes and publications provided to media, fans and partners
  • Updating our website and social media channels on a daily basis, posting written, audio and video content
  • Contributing to media operations at U.S. Soccer events (Men’s and Women’s National Team matches, Development Academy showcases, etc.), including assisting with credentialing, record-keeping, answering media requests and other necessary support
  • Participating in all Communications Department meetings and events, assisting with implementing the objectives of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates shall be pursuing a degree or have recently completed a degree in a relevant field of expertise.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects through multi-tasking and managing priorities efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite  
  • Travel may be required.
