Sporting Development Associate: Referee Department - United States Soccer Federation (Chicago, IL)

 Department Overview

The Sporting Development Associate will work within the Referee Department, reporting to the Referee Program Coordinator and is based at U.S. Soccer’s headquarters in Chicago, Ill.  The core function of the position is to facilitate the day-to-day duties of working with the Game Officials, Sales Force and other platforms used within the department. This opportunity is aimed at applicants that are college graduates seeking professional careers in the sport of soccer.

Primary Duties:

  • Review current teams in Game Officials from various leagues to determine if they are still affiliated.
  • Review playing locations and teams in Game Officials for duplicate identities.
  • Responsible for answering email sent to the general department email account
  • Check registration packets of National level officials, assessors, and instructors and make sure they have met all requirements before sending.
  • Obtain correct addresses for returned registration packets.
  • Merge Salesforce duplicate accounts.
  • Complete and send out Certificate of Insurance requests.
  • Assist in planning of various Referee Programs Events.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Education/Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of the sport and the overall soccer landscape in the U.S.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service focus to solve complex and urgent situations
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow
  • Proficient with technology programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Keynote, etc.)
  • Experience in developing/supporting technology platforms or database management is a plus
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus, but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree required

The Opportunity:

The Development Academy mission is to impact everyday club environments.   • Serve as liaison to clubs, referees, and Technical Staff to assist Academy Coordinator team with events and registration
  • Manage game day Academy operations (may include evening/weekend availability)

Membership Graphic Design Intern - USA Field Hockey (Colorado Springs, CO)

USA Field Hockey is the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of field hockey in the United States. As an emerging sport in the U.S., and the third most popular sport in the world, field hockey has the potential for explosive growth following the recent success of our U.S. Women’s National Team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. USA Field Hockey is a key organization in facilitating this growth, managing all aspects of the sport, from grassroots development to the selection and funding of the national teams.

USA Field Hockey is looking for a qualified intern to join our membership team for the months of January 2018 – May 2018. The Membership Graphic Design Intern will primarily work with the Membership Coordinator and Membership Manager to assist in various capacities. This position can be based out of USA Field Hockey’s National Office in Colorado Springs, CO or candidate can work remotely.

Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience across categories such as member services and strategic planning.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Membership Coordinator and Membership Manager with creating and editing graphic materials to be distributed to members
  • Collaborate with Membership Intern to create benefit focused documents
  • Development of graphic and multimedia elements across digital channels to increase membership and benefit awareness.
  • Collaborate with Membership Intern to create club materials
  • Assist with creation of USA Field Hockey club administrator Summit resources
  • Other Areas as Directed

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a university and receiving credit for completion of internship
  • Junior and Senior level students preferred; additional candidates will be considered based upon level of experience.
  • Pursuit of marketing, graphic design, visual communications, or video production degree is preferred.

Availability

  • Applicants should be available to start no later than January 20, 2018
  • Work schedule subject to applicant’s availability with minimum of 15 hours per week

Skills:

  • Individual must be self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision
  • Must be able to remain positive and keep composure when faced with conflict
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite to include Photoshop, In Design and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of HTML and Video Editing Software a plus.

This is primarily an office position. Incumbent will be required do to some light lifting of no more than 40lbs. Incumbent will need to be able to successfully operate basic office equipment with ease. This is an unpaid position; however, assistance to obtain college credit will be provided.
