Accounts Payable Representative - United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (Lexington, KY)

Under general supervision of the Director of Accounting, this position is responsible for processing and monitoring all payables in accordance with both internal and external procedures and mandates. In addition to coding payables and processing payments, this position coordinates data from all internal departments as well as external vendors and auditors. This position is also responsible for recording and maintaining financial and payable information and producing effective and accurate financial reports.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years of accounting experience required, preferably in accounts payable. An Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting or related field will substitute for experience requirement.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have basic computer skills including use of MS Word and Excel. Prior experience in the use of Accounting software preferred. Must be detail-oriented and capable of meeting multiple deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Must be capable of working effectively and professionally with staff and vendors. Great Plains experience preferred but not required.

Finance: Controller/Director of Finance
Controller - USA Cycling (Colorado Springs, CO)

Job Purpose

The Controller will be responsible for and take ownership of all day-to-day accounting functions and financial reporting for USA Cycling, Inc., USA Cycling BV, and USA Cycling Development Foundation including, but not limited to the following:  (Some of these responsibilities can and should be delegated, but the Controller should show oversight and ultimate responsibility.)

Essential Duties

  • Preparing monthly financial statements including consolidations according to GAAP
  •  Management reporting
  •  Monthly close
  •  Providing day-to-day management of Staff Accountant and Paralegal/Accounting Clerk
  •  Variance analysis
  •  Balance sheet account reconciliation
  •  General ledger maintenance
  •  Manage the  budget and forecast process
  •  Assists department heads with departmental budget and forecast preparation
  •  Prepares audit books for annual financial audit and biannual USOC internal audit and manages all aspects of audit process 
  • Cash management
  • Manage expense reporting process including reviewing to ensure compliance with company policies and general ledger coding 
  • 990, 990-T, 1099,and 1042 preparation 
  • Provide Dutch tax firm with information needed to prepare Dutch tax return for BV and review before filing
  • Manage VAT refund filing process
  • Regulatory reporting including unclaimed property and sales tax reporting
  • Review payroll function,403b contributions and reporting, and associated general ledger impacts
  • Review and collect outstanding receivables
  • Supervise A/P, A/R, payroll and fixed asset accounting functions
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software systems (Microsoft Dynamics SL preferred) and Microsoft Office.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience required.


Generally, five (5) or more years’ experience in progressively advancing accounting positions.  Prefer experience in both pubic accounting and industry, but will consider others based on experience.

Equipment Utilized

Equipment requiring involved set-up, adjustments and operational procedures such as word processing equipment, personal computer, scanners, and digital equipment.

Software Utilized

Microsoft Dynamics SL, Paylocity, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;

Supervisory Responsibility

Scope of Authority, Financial  Authority and Communication

Responsible for overall function of Accounting Department; communicates within department and intra-company, communicates with bank and vendors.

Works under broad, minimal supervision.  Directly supervises Staff Accountant and shares responsibility with Staff Attorney for supervising Paralegal/Accounting Clerk.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing and resolving problems.

Physical demands and working conditions

Generally, works in the office; therefore, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee may occasionally lift and / or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear.
