Compliance Manager - US Equestrian Federation (Lexington, KY)

Under general direction of the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and working in coordination with the CCO, this position facilitates and monitors all aspects of Federation compliance programs including development, implementation, and review; conducts competition site inspections; prepares site inspection reports; makes recommendations to the CCO, staff, committees, and task forces regarding competition standards and other compliance matters; develops written communications for the Compliance department; and assists with internal and external audits and reviews.  Additionally, this position coordinates the logistics for contracted compliance representatives, performs research, and completes special projects as assigned.  This position regularly interacts with Senior Staff and US Equestrian members, competitions, and committees.  Approximately 15% travel, including on weekends, is likely.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree required.  High school diploma plus four years of experience or Associate’s degree plus two years of experience may substitute for degree requirement (in addition to experience required below).

EXPERIENCE:  At least two years of professional experience in the horse industry required.   More specific experience with equestrian competitions, knowledge of USEF rules, and regulatory or paralegal work experience is preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:  Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy to handle sensitive and confidential situations.  Additionally, the applicant must be able to assess and prioritize projects and issues within the broader mission of the organization.  Ability to adapt and problem-solve with minimal oversight while interacting with members in the field.  Must be proficient in the use of the Internet and Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to move safely and effectively around competition grounds while walking over variable terrain during unpredictable weather conditions for extended periods.
